Monsieur Worth by Worth: launched in 1969.
Fragrance Composition:
So what does it smell like? It is classified as an aromatic woody fougere fragrance for men. It begins with a spiky top note gives way to the freshness of vetiver and the soothing blends of bergamot and sandalwood, finally mellowing to the darker, more mysterious notes of musk and oakmoss.
- Top notes are neroli, lavender, bergamot, basil, petitgrain, rosemary and eucalyptus
- Middle notes are pepper, verbena, geranium, fern, Bourbon vetiver and Virginia cedar
- Base notes are sandalwood, oakmoss, tonka bean, musk, amber and vanilla
Bottles:
The line included Eau de Toilette, a concentrated eau de Cologne Triple, After Shave, and Deodorant. Monsieur Worth was originally housed in clear glass bottles with black plastic caps. By 1976, a series of silvery capped atomizer sprays for Aftershave, Eau de Toilette and Deodorant were introduced to the line.
Fate of the Fragrance:
It appears that Monsieur Worth might have been discontinued around 1981-1982 as I cannot find any other advertisements that date afterwards. It was certainly discontinued prior to 1996.
